Why are you a member of the WBAI?
I moved to Chicago for law school and didn’t know anyone in the legal field. I quickly saw the role networking played in Chicago’s legal community. I was drawn to the WBAI’s opportunities for law students to get involved and meet practicing attorneys. Now, as an attorney, I like the range of events offered by the WBAI from large receptions to more intimate networking opportunities and CLE events.
What do you think is the best way to empower women in law?
The best way to empower women in the law is by hiring and promoting women. Women are also guilty of having an unconscious bias in the workplace. We need to recognize and fight that bias within our firms. There’s room for more than one woman at the top and as we lift each other up, we’ll get equality in the workplace.
What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?
I recently moved in-house and am focusing on data and privacy issues. I’m looking forward to growing in my new position.
