Molly Anne Krebs
Assistant General Counsel // Office of the Illinois Secretary of State
Please provide a description of your practice.
I advise the Office on the retention and distribution of public information, specifically focusing on the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act, Local and State Records Act, Personnel Records Review Act, and FOIA/OMA. I get to coordinate with cool and unique departments, such as the Illinois State Archives, Index Department, Illinois State Library, Business Services Department, and the Court of Claims.
Why are you a member of the WBAI?
As an introvert, I appreciated the cozy and welcoming environment of the “Nollaig na mBan” (Women’s Little Christmas) event. It was a pleasure to hear about all of the exciting work Illinois women are pursuing in the legal realm.
What do you think is the best way to empower women in law?
” ‘Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.’ – Maya Angelou. We stand on the shoulders of the women before us. Let us continue to empower each other and the next generation of women in law.”
What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?
I’m looking forward to continuing to grow and to see where my career takes me. I know there is so much more to learn and experience. I cannot wait to see where the winding path leads – the best is yet to come.
Tell us something interesting about you.
When not reviewing records, you can find me performing aerial arts at my local circus gym, walking my dog (Carter) around the park, or stargazing through my telescope.
