Please provide a description of your practice.

I focus my practice on labor and employment law. I represent employers in a wide range of matters arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. I defend employers against state law wrongful discharge, contract, tort, wage and hour, and other employment-related claims. In addition to litigation defense, I represent employers in labor arbitration proceedings involving issues of collective bargaining agreement interpretation and counsel employers on a variety of labor and employment issues, including employee handbooks and alternative dispute resolution policies, investigations, counseling and discipline, and covenants not to compete.

Why you are a member of the WBAI?

Law is a tough profession and I encourage everyone to find as many sources of support as they can, and that includes at least one bar or other professional association. The WBAI has been such a resource for me since law school and has grown with me for many years. Through the WBAI I have found support when looking for a first job in a tough economy after graduation, advice in transitioning from clerking to private practice, inspiration in having exposure to some of the best attorneys in the city who do it all and then some, mentorship in trying to follow in those ladies’ footsteps, and most importantly, friendship. I have not found another organization that provides such an incredible community of successful, driven, and supportive women, and countless opportunities to network with them.

What you are most looking forward to this Spring?

Summer. Chicago is pure magic in the summer and I spend as much time outside as I can, walking, grilling, reading, going to the beach, and of course, enjoying time with family and friends.

Tell us something interesting about you.

I’m often described as a foodie—I love trying new restaurants and exploring all the amazing and diverse food this city has to offer. I also love sharing my experience with people, and that includes giving and getting recommendations for must-try dishes, chefs to watch, reservations to make, and places to avoid. You can find me having fun with my hobby on Instagram as @CheekyEats but I’m always happy to talk food so don’t hesitate to hit me up for restaurant recommendations.
