Lisa Weinstein
Principal Attorney // Grant & Eisenhofer
Please provide a description of your practice.
Lisa Weinstein, a principal at Grant & Eisenhofer (G&E), founded and heads the firm’s birth injury litigation practice group. This dedicated team is based in Chicago and takes cases nationwide. Lisa, the mother of three children, is a trailblazer in what has traditionally been a male-dominated profession. She consistently works to provide opportunities for women within the field and on the team – as a matter of fact, the entire practice group support team is female. Lisa believes it’s important in her practice area in particular to have women in key roles as they are often better able to relate to and understand the unique needs and experiences facing each client. This focus really sets the practice group apart from other firms. Another key differentiator is the strong and lasting relationships built with each client. Lisa and the birth injury group continue to support clients even after their cases have settled, remaining connected with them for the long haul.
Why are you a member of the WBAI? What do you think is the best way to empower women in law?
Upon initially joining the WBAI, Lisa was amazed how her membership provided immediate availability to a community of women supporting women – something that was rare when she was first starting out. Over the years, Lisa has developed numerous, lasting connections with other female attorneys in both Chicago and across Illinois. Now, as a long-time member of the WBAI, Lisa encourages young female lawyers to get involved with the WBAI early in their career and to take advantage of the many valuable networking opportunities, activities, and events the organization provides.
What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?
Professionally, Lisa is excited to be in a post-COVID environment so she can begin trying cases again. Many of her cases were delayed due to the pandemic, and the birth injury practice group has a number of cases on the horizon.
Personally, Lisa recently enjoyed taking an extended vacation. Initially scheduled to be in trial for the entire month of June, Lisa and the attorney team achieved a significant settlement on the first day of trial. She was able to celebrate by spending time away with her family for the month of July.
Tell us something interesting about you.
When Lisa joined G&E as senior counsel, she was the youngest person at the Firm to start and lead a practice group. Lisa was promoted to principal less than two years later and has continued to significantly grow the birth injury litigation group, handling some of the most complex cases on a national level.
Lisa is also a talented bowler! She started a bowling league while attending college at University of Michigan, and while she says she’s not as good as she used to be, she still enjoys it and would love to get back to the lanes post-COVID.
