Lauren Witkowski
President // WBAI
Please provide a description of your practice.
I specialize in the area of workers compensation defense defending businesses across the State of Illinois.
Why are you a member of the WBAI?
The WBAI offers a unique bar association dedicated to the advocacy of women across Illinois. I am proud to serve as the president and will continue to Advocate for Advancement as we continue to fight for women’s rights.
What do you think is the best way to empower women in law?
Women Empower Women. Period.
What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?
Personally, I am looking forward to watching my daughters grow and teaching them that they can achieve anything in this world. Professionally, I look forward to serving the membership as WBAI President through the winter and spring of 2023.
How did you first become involved with the WBAI?
The WBAI offered the membership and mentorship I was looking for as a young attorney. I found the WBAI to be most welcoming to young female attorneys with mentors who were more than willing to share their career experiences and assist me with my career path.
What is your favorite event and why?
I love the Annual Dinner and the excitement and energy that surrounds this event. It is the largest bar association event in the state and boasts attendance by attorneys, judges and government officials. Everyone comes together to celebrate the outgoing Board of Directors and welcome the new Board of Directors.
What is your favorite WBAI memory?
My favorite WBAI memory is receiving the phone call that I was selected as the Second Vice President. This solidified the lock step to WBAI President. It is a position that I am humbled to hold.
Why would you recommend the WBAI to others?
The WBAI offers a unique membership to female attorneys. It is the only bar association that truly understands the sacrifices we make as females trying to “have it all.”
Tell us something interesting about you.
My husband and I have been restoring a Prairie Style house designed by William Drummond. We won a Historic Preservation Award for our restoration and are proud to call it our home.
