Please provide a description of your practice.
I lead sales and marketing efforts for the Chicago and Northern Illinois market of PohlmanUSA, a national court reporting and litigation services company. I have been in business development for legal services for the past 12 years. I started in this field after practicing litigation and realizing that it wasn’t the right career fit for me. In my role at Pohlman I work with clients providing nationwide court reporting and trial services. My typical day includes meeting with clients to discuss upcoming litigation needs, providing demonstrations and training on our technology offerings, maintaining strong customer service ties with existing clients and introducing our services to new clients. I enjoy meeting with clients over coffee, lunch or in their offices to discuss their practice and how partnering with Pohlman can create efficiencies for them. Interacting with people on a daily basis is the best part of my job!
Why you are a member of the WBAI?
I have been a female attorney in the legal field for the past 15 years and I am a true believer that no matter what your role is, it is an incredibly difficult world to navigate. As a woman in the law, I feel fortunate to have found a role that is rewarding to me personally and contributes to the financial well-being of my family. Networking in groups focused on the unique challenges woman face has always been an important part of my success and fulfillment. I feel it is important to share experiences, war stories and success stories. By doing so we not only find success for ourselves, but help pave the way for new generations of women in the law. The WBAI helps women with programs that focus on career development, provides networking that encourages business development, and seminars that help us all to find our best path. Surrounding yourself with strong, successful women is empowering and the WBAI is the perfect forum to do exactly that! It has also provided me the opportunity to meet other amazing attorney moms, a subchapter that is a particular passion of mine as we strive to find that ever elusive work life balance. That, and they host great happy hours!
What you are most looking forward to this fall?
EVERYTHING. I am a walking cliché when it comes to fall. Pumpkin patches, cozy sweaters, roast chicken dinner on Sunday and Halloween. My daughter and I love going all out.
Tell us something interesting about you…
Despite the fact that I spend a portion of my work day in a coffee shop almost every day, I don’t drink coffee because I can’t handle caffeine!
