Description of your practice:
I began serving on the Illinois Supreme Court in December of 2000 after practicing law for 20 years in Rock Island, first as a legal aid lawyer, and then as a sole practitioner in the general practice of law, including appeals, environmental law, labor law, employment matters, and other general civil and criminal matters. I am currently up for retention.

Why are you a member of the WBAI?
I continue to be a member of the WBAI because your Executive Director Monique Austin and a number of the WBAI officers have encouraged my ongoing membership. I joined WBAI because it is not only a “fun” association but also one that provides a meaningful and strong voice for women in the law. With my three daughters and three granddaughters to remind me, I will never forget the special interests and concerns of women lawyers.

What do you think is the best way to empower women in law? 
Women in law need to have mentors, including male mentors. Also, those of us in the judiciary need to include women in committees, including appointments to the Illinois Supreme Court Committees.

What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?
In 2021, I am most looking forward to a COVID-free year, although that thought may be a little too optimistic.

Tell us something interesting about you.
I am a big movie fan. I also love watching my brother’s high school varsity girls’ basketball team and am currently streaming “Tehran” on Apple TV.
