Hon. Antara Nath Rivera

Arbitrator // Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission

Please provide a description of your practice.

As an Arbitrator, I preside over trials, conduct pre-trials to facilitate settlement negotiations, conduct mediations, approve settlement contracts, and author decisions after trial. My goal is to efficiently and judiciously handle a caseload of 3000 to ensure injured workers are heard, receive proper medical attention, and receive proper compensation.

Why are you a member of the WBAI?

I am a member of the WBAI to mentor and encourage women in the legal field or aspiring to become lawyers as well as to promote WBAI’s mission to advocate for the women’s rights in Illinois.

What do you think is the best way to empower women in law?

Mentorship is the key to promoting each other and ensuring the success of women in the legal field. It is important to me to encourage each other and guide one another through experience and networking to promote success. As a mentor, my mentees’ success is my success.

What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?

I look forward to working with strong, ambitious, and hard working women to promote diversity and inclusion, to promote one another in our respective legal fields, and to promote WBAI’s mission to extend our assistance and support to women in the community and combat stereotypes that continue to exist.

Tell us something interesting about you.

I enjoy traveling, gardening, and being team mom on my son’s football team. Go Lemont Hornets!
