Erica Tremble

Assistant General Counsel // Office of the Illinois State Treasurer

Please provide a description of your practice.

As an attorney at the Office of the Illinois State Treasurer, I provide counsel on several programs that are housed in the office (college savings, retirement savings, and electronic payment processing to name a few). This work can include drafting and negotiating agreements, advising on legislation, and ensuring legal compliance.

Why are you a member of the WBAI?

I joined WBAI in an effort to expand my professional network and have found the members to be welcoming, supportive, and all around great resources. It isn’t always easy to meet other government attorneys that are members of bar associations and I have found WBAI provides a great opportunity for this, particularly in the Chicago area.

What do you think is the best way to empower women in law?

I think one of the best ways to empower women in the law is by surrounding them with other women in the law and with those that support women. Another great reason to be part of WBAI with its focus on supporting women in the law!!

What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?

Professionally, I am looking forward to continued involvement in WBAI and meeting other members. Personally, I am looking forward to completing my second century bike ride (100 miles) in September 2026.

Tell us something interesting about you.

Before law school I did a year of volunteer service as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Savannah, Georgia with a focus on poverty reduction in the area.
