Member Monday: Meet Cori Cundiff

Description of your practice:
I represent clients injured by the negligence of others. I currently have clients injured by medical malpractice, construction negligence, sexual assault, motor vehicle accidents and defective products.

Why are you a member of the WBAI?
I have been a member of the WBAI since law school. One of the values in life I support with my heart and soul is women empowering women. The WBAI is a perfect place for me build on that value in my professional life. The networking and mentor-ship relationships that I have been able to start growing since I became a practicing attorney have been a big benefit for me and many of those relationships started with the Women’s Bar Association.

What do you think is the best way to empower women in law?
Encouraging them to worry less about the opinions of others and focus your time and talent on being the best advocate or representative possible for your client.

What are the qualities you have seen and admired in a senior female attorney you know?
Some of the most inspiring female attorneys I have met are the ones that are first to offer guidance and mentor-ship despite being busy in their own careers. I am always trying to grow and become a better trial lawyer. In order to do that, I try to be smarter and better informed.  The inspiring female attorneys I have met serve as great examples of some of the best female trial lawyers around and have been so generous with their advice and support.

Tell us about a story or time when being a female attorney was advantageous?
In doing the type of work our firm does, I often find being a women is beneficial for certain clients. Occasionally, being the mom/daughter/sister in room allows a client to open up about the difficult situation they are in and the traumas they have been through.

What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?
I don’t believe in new year resolutions, but I believe in choosing your word of the year. My word for 2019 is confidence. Being still a very new trial lawyer it is easy for me to second guess myself. This year, I will think and act with confidence both personally and professionally.

Tell us something interesting about you.
I am a mom to 5 very busy kids. I enjoy spending my weekends being the crazy cheer/lacrosse/hockey mom and watching my kids reach and achieve their goals.
