Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, the Director, Corporate Law is responsible for managing the Corporate Law Division in the provision of accurate, concise, and practical government/corporate legal advice to the General Counsel, Executive Director/CEO, and senior staff in the public and transportation area of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) procurements, contract drafting and interpretation, grant compliance, and labor and employment law.

Plan and establish goals and objectives and participate in the development of policies and procedures relative to Corporate Law. Monitor and prioritize division workload for both staff and outside counsel, where necessary.

Manage projects from start to finish including overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of legal documents and strategies that anticipate and mitigate compliance or contractual concerns.

Manage the department’s role in the procurement process to ensure compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations.

Supervise attorneys engaged in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts.

Serve as Chief Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Officer receiving requests for records and coordinating the timely response in accordance with federal law. Keep staff apprised of current guidelines.

Direct labor and employment practices by providing guidance on relevant laws, rules, and regulations; and reviewing the content of complex legal documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

Keep abreast of industry-specific regulations, conduct legal research and analyses of facts and information, and develop and employ strategies to provide counsel and guidance on legal questions or issues.

Responsible for the safety objectives, goals, and program of the organization ensuring compliance with applicable safety rules and regulations.
