Business Tax Associate

A diversely skilled group, we provide a range of legal and financial assistance for our business and high-net-worth clients: business tax, employee benefits and executive compensation, and private wealth services. Key partners on our team draw from experience they gained as stakeholders and government officials who helped to shape the very laws, policies and enforcement measures we navigate daily on behalf of our clients.

We represent individuals, corporations, nonprofit organizations and other business entities in tax audits at federal, state and local government levels. We also regularly represent clients before federal, state and local tax authorities; before state trial and appellate courts; and in U.S. Tax Court, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, federal district courts and federal courts of appeals. Our private wealth services team focuses on the unique needs of high-net-worth clients around the globe, including estate planning, gift and estate tax law, and family business succession issues.

Candidates should have 1-4 years of experience in a law firm. The associate will work with McGuireWoods’ transactional tax lawyers to assist clients with issues relating to the tax aspects of business transactions, such as advising clients on sophisticated transactions, including taxable and tax-free mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions (including fund formation), tax credit driven transactions, joint ventures, debt finance and securities transactions, renewable energy projects, and inbound and outbound international investments. Experience with drafting transactional agreements is a plus. Excellent academic credentials required and an LL.M. in taxation is preferred. Please submit cover letter, resume and transcript.
