Police Accountability Board

Help Advance Police Accountability

Are you passionate about ensuring accountability in our police force? Your opportunity to make a difference is here. The City of Chicago is accepting applications to fill two vacancies on the Police Board, an independent civilian body responsible for deciding disciplinary cases involving Chicago Police officers.

The Police Board is a vital component of our city’s police accountability framework, and we’re in search of accomplished attorneys with a minimum of 10 years of practice, coupled with a proven history of community service. To maintain impartiality, applicants should not have been employed by any of the following entities in the last 5 years: Chicago Police Department, COPA, Chicago Department of Law, Chicago Mayor’s Office, or the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

A term on the Police Board spans five years, requiring members to commit on average of 35 hours per month. In recognition of your service, each Police Board member receives a monthly stipend of $1,000.
