Director – CPR
Job Summary/General Purpose of Job:
Provides executive leadership, policy direction, strategic oversight and substantive legal guidance on policy initiatives in the field of legal and judicial ethics, professional responsibility law and professional regulation.
Principal Duties/Job Responsibilities:
Directs strategic planning, policy development, financial management, and personnel administration for the Center.
Provides policy guidance and legal counsel to Association executive leadership, governance and leaders in developing, interpreting, and implementing national and international policies on legal and judicial ethics, professional responsibility law and professional regulation.
Provides legal expertise and critical legal analysis to Association leadership, regulatory entities, and state, federal and international government agencies and organizations regarding the interpretation and implementation of the Association’s policies on legal and judicial ethics, professional responsibility law, and professional regulation.
Oversees the development of substantive legal resources to ensure and enhance the Association’s continued status as the preeminent authority in legal and judicial ethics, professional responsibility law, and professional regulation. Provides management of publications and the publishing process for the Center.
Provides leadership, coaching, counseling, feedback, performance appraisal, and, where appropriate, applies discipline to and through assigned subordinates
Performs other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications & Interests:
Juris Doctorate with active license to practice required. Minimum of fifteen to twenty years of professional legal experience with executive responsibilities for management, financial administration, strategic planning and resource development.
At least five years’ leading an organization involved in a multi-disciplinary approach to policy development and
professional regulation.
At least ten years of legal experience in the field of professional responsibility or legal or judicial professional regulation.
At least five years’ experience leading and supervision to an assigned team.
Preferred Qualifications & Interests:
Previous management experience in a not-for-profit professional organization.
Extent of Travel Required in the Job:
As a normal course of business, this job will typically require travel of less than 25% of the time.
