What they don’t teach you in law school

As of 2019, approximately 1.3 million lawyers currently work in America, with an additional 34,000 entering the workforce every single year. The legal field is big and getting bigger. With growing competition every year, law students entering the legal field face more scrutiny and demands than ever before.

A stellar transcript and degree does not directly translate into a job in today’s market; however, they can still get your foot in the door. Here are a few tips from current lawyers, including WBAI’s immediate past President Corinne Cantwell Heggie, to help capitalize on those first few years out of law school, and ensure you can exchange your 3L for a W-2.
