On May 1st, the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois proudly sponsored and participated in the Chicago Bar Association’s Law Day of Action: Standing for the Rule of Law at Federal Plaza. Held in recognition of National Law Day, the event brought together attorneys, judges, and members of the public to reflect on the essential role the legal profession plays in upholding justice and constitutional principles.

The centerpiece of the event was a moving Oath Reaffirmation Ceremony led by Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Mary Jane Theis. Legal professionals from across the city took part in reaffirming their commitment to the rule of law, judicial independence, and the ethical responsibilities that define our profession.
At a time when democratic institutions face growing challenges, events like this remind us that the rule of law is not a partisan ideal—it is a cornerstone of our democracy. The WBAI is proud to stand with our colleagues in defense of these foundational values and to continue supporting initiatives that promote accountability, access to justice, and public trust in the legal system.
We thank the CBA for organizing this impactful event and all who joined in this important reaffirmation of our shared responsibilities.
