On May 13, the WBAI Legislative Committee and the WBAI PAC traveled to Springfield for a Lobby Day. It was a perfect chance to meet with legislators and get an up close and personal look at the legislative process. Lobby Day attendees had a great time meeting with House legal staff, several Senators, lobbyists, and Speaker Welch. During these meetings, WBAI members were able to discuss our goal of promoting legislation that supports women and families, becoming more involved in the legislative process, and expanding our Springfield/Central Illinois presence. Finally, the day was made extra special when WBAI Member Ashley Stead was called to testify on a bill (HB3638), which expands the Workplace Transparency Act. Following her testimony, the bill passed successfully out of committee! Thanks to all that attended and stay tuned for lobby days during future legislative sessions!
