On May 28, the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois partnered with Lawyers for the Creative Arts to present a one-of-a-kind CLE: “Pay Equity for Artists (Taylor’s Version).”

This engaging and thought-provoking program explored the legal impact of pop icon Taylor Swift—from the significance of her re-recorded albums (Taylor’s Versions) to broader issues surrounding AI in the music industry, artist worker rights, and pay equity for marginalized creatives.
The panel brought together dynamic legal and industry experts:
Jennifer Nacht, Esq. – Intellectual Property Attorney, Greer, Burns & Crain
Rick Morris, MBA, JD, LLM – Professor of Instruction & Associate Dean, Northwestern University
Cynthia Pietrucha, Esq. – Employment Attorney, Pietrucha Law Firm
Elsa Hiltner – Director of Programs, Lawyers for the Creative Arts
Attendees gained practical legal insights and real-world strategies to support independent creators navigating a rapidly evolving industry. Thank you to our incredible panelists and participants for an empowering, educational evening that hit all the right notes.
