WBAI members attended a limited run of “To Kill a Mockingbird” on August 9th at the Chicago Theater.
Academy Award® winner Aaron Sorkin’s new play, directed by Tony Award® winner Bartlett Sher and based on Harper Lee’s classic novel came back to Chicago as part of a multi-year national tour across North America. Set in Alabama in 1934, Harper Lee’s enduring story of racial injustice and childhood innocence centers on one of the most venerated characters in American literature, small-town lawyer, Atticus Finch.
The story teaches us valuable lessons about family, friendship, forgiveness, and standing up for what is right – even if the system is against you. It is an important story for any American to read because it is a keen reminder of prejudices that can exist in society and the detriment they pose to communities.
