Corporate Counsel, Employment // Outcome Health
Why are you a member of the WBAI?
I joined the WBAI because I did not go to law school in Illinois, and I wanted to get involved with the legal community and meet other attorneys. I have stayed a member of the WBAI because through the organization I have made an incredible group of friends, met attorneys who work in many different areas of law, and gained an important network of attorneys in Chicago. I have also had the opportunity to work with female attorneys (who are also now my dear friends) to support important policy issues, such as the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment in Illinois
What do you think is the best way to empower women in law?
I think the best way to empower women in law is to have compassion for the experience of being a female attorney and to keep that compassion at the forefront of everything that you – and the WBAI – do. The WBAI is uniquely positioned to support women – whether it is lobbying for important policies, understanding that work and family come first and being supportive of women who prioritize both, supporting women’s career choices, and celebrating women’s achievements. Women regularly take on more; the WBAI, and female attorneys generally, can be there for each other when the rest of our lives are making demands.
What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?
I am most looking forward to continuing my work for a growing organization.
Tell us something interesting about you.
Until I moved to Chicago in 2010, I lived most of my life in the South. Somehow I am surviving Chicago winters!
