Senior Attorney // Malman Law
Description of your practice:
I practice as a personal injury attorney focusing primarily on long term care which includes nursing homes, assisted living facilities, CILA’s, and medical malpractice. I have handled hundreds of personal injury cases with significant six and seven-figure settlements and verdicts. Additionally, I assist with managing our healthcare division of the firm, training young attorneys, and serving as a mentor to our young female attorneys.
Why are you a member of the WBAI?
I strongly believe it is important to surround yourself with strong and successful women from all areas of the law. WBAI is an exceptional organization that supports that mission and goal. I became a member of the WBAI to expand my network and help advance women in law. I am honored to be part of this extraordinary group of ladies.
What do you think is the best way to empower women in law?
The best way to empower women in the law is to advocate and mentor female attorneys. In my practice, I try to empower our younger female attorneys not only by giving advice but leading by example. I take every opportunity to ensure a woman’s voice is included. Often, we see in our practice, we can be our own worst enemy, not giving ourselves the credit we deserve or allowing others to speak over us. True empowerment comes from asserting your voice and ensuring your viewpoint is heard.
What are the qualities you have seen and admired in a senior female attorney you know?
The qualities I admire in senior female attorneys are those that make an effort to help other female attorneys rise in their careers and support each other in both times of success and times of hardship. I am lucky to have several female attorneys (many part of WBAI) that I admire who have made an effort to help me throughout my career with nominations, speaking engagements, referral opportunities, trial strategy and growth as an attorney.
What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?
Personally, my husband and I just welcomed our second child this month. I am very much looking forward to spending the next few months of my maternity leave enjoying this special time with my daughters. Professionally, I am looking to advance myself by continuing to build my practice. I thrive on constant learning opportunities and strongly believe that you can learn something from every case and interaction with other attorneys.
Tell us something interesting about you.
I have a true love and passion for traveling around the world. I feel I have learned so much about people, myself, and just life in general from the experiences and exposure to difficult cultures. I cherish these memories dearly. I look forward to being able to explore new cities as a family of four.
