Description of your practice:
I am a trial lawyer representing injured people and their families in medical malpractice and all other types of personal injury actions.

Why are you a member of the WBAI?
I joined the WBAI when I was a brand new attorney. I saw it as a way to strengthen my network and learn from my colleagues. Immediately, I had the opportunity to meet judges, other trial lawyers, and practitioners in other areas of practice, many of whom became mentors, friends, and mutual referral sources. I stayed involved in the WBAI to continue building these types of relationships and also to give back to the younger lawyers coming behind me.

What do you think is the best way to empower women in law?
I think opportunity is the best way to empower women. Sadly, in the year 2020, women are still not given as many opportunities as men. This disparity prohibits us from advancing within the profession and often prevents us from continuing on in the profession entirely. When we are given the chance to try the big case, counsel the important client, lead the meeting/initiative/team, etc., we will succeed and advance.

The WBAI and its Board of Directors work to create opportunities for women through mentorship programs, networking events, legislative advocacy, women-focused CLE programming, and service initiatives, as well as leadership positions within the Association.

What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?
I am looking forward to serving the WBAI as President of the Association for the year ahead. Due to COVID, a lot of our prior plans for the year are being modified, but I am excited to try new things and adapt our initiatives and events calendar to fit the needs of our members during this challenging time. I’m especially looking forward to providing our members with all of the CLE programming they need to fulfill their annual MCLE requirements and exploring topics particularly relevant to women in the practice. I am also looking forward to highlighting the expertise and collective wisdom of our members who will be teaching these CLEs.

Tell us something interesting about you.
I have always enjoyed cooking and have kept a virtual recipe list through in Instagram account for the past several years (@thegingerlist). Once COVID hit and my jury trials were continued, I decided now is as good a time as any to start writing a cookbook. I am partnering with friend and fellow litigator, Desiree Moore. The cookbook will be geared toward working professionals, i.e., food that is delicious, but realistic for those with very full-time schedules, including some more intensive, indulgent weekend meals.
