Attorney // Tomasik Kotin Kasserman

Description of your practice:
As a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney at Tomasik Kotin & Kasserman, I have the privilege of representing individuals whose lives have been impacted by an injury or death.  It is personally and professionally satisfying to pull the puzzle pieces of liability and damages together in a way that positively impacts our clients’ lives after an injury or tragic death.  Our firm handles catastrophic injury cases, including the areas of transportation negligence, medical negligence and premises liability.

Why are you a member of the WBAI?
I am a member of the WBAI because it provides connection among attorneys for networking in all areas of the law.  The WBAI organizes social events and collaborates with other bar groups to provide CLE to give its members access to outstanding leaders and members of the judiciary who share their knowledge and provide inspiration and helpful resources.  Although we are experiencing group membership virtually this year instead of seeing each other at lunches and events, the WBAI has continued to provide high-quality, valuable opportunities for connection.

What do you think is the best way to empower women in law?
Women in the law are empowered when they receive opportunities for advancement, feel connected to their colleagues or coworkers, and celebrate the ‘little wins’.  It is invaluable to have a mentor and be a mentor to others.  We also need to be honest and upfront about some of the challenges women attorneys sometimes face in the law.  By doing so, we lift women up and improve the practice of law for all attorneys.

What are you most looking forward to in the following year, personally/professionally?
This past year, I redirected my career path back to practicing as a personal injury attorney after working on the defense side for a few years.  Professionally, I am looking forward to growing in my new role and obtaining successful results for my clients.  If the next year is anything like 2020, it will be a little unpredictable and may keep us close to home, so in my personal life, I look forward to spending time with my husband and two daughters trying to come up with local adventures!

Tell us something interesting about you.
I have two rescued miniature pinschers named Rosie and Trixie.
