On May 24, 2023, the WBAI was proud to co-sponsor Decalogue Presents: A Salute to Veterans in the Legal Profession, a Decalogue Society event, along with 37 other legal organizations and associations.
Co-sponsors of the event included NSBA, CCBA, Jewish Judges, Asian American Judges, IJC and WBAI, who salute our respective member veterans and honor all those who have served to defend the liberties and freedoms of the United States
The event took place at Theater on the Lake with veterans, active members and reservists in attendance, along with many esteemed presenters.
The program began with music from Chicago Garda Pipes and Drums, followed by a welcome from Joel Bruckman and Decalogue Society President Judge Megan Goldish.
After the welcome, the US Navy Color Guard performed a ceremony, followed by an invocation by Rabbi Aaron Melman, Illinois National Guard Captain.
Both Cook County Chief Judge Evans and Illinois Supreme Court Judge Joy Cunningham spoke on behalf of the judiciary and legal professionals.
Speakers on behalf of veterans and public officials followed, and the program ended with presenters from each branch of the service and fireworks!
Attendees were able to visit the Mobile Museum of Tolerance (MMOT) at the event as well. The first-of-its-kind in the US, the MMOT is a free traveling mobile education center, utilizing innovative technology and interactive lessons to bring a message of tolerance directly to communities across the state of Illinois. Some of the MMOT workshops include Civil Rights, the Holocaust, bullying, and the dangers of social media.
It is so important to honor those who serve and the WBAI is proud to have been a part of this very humbling and educational event. Thank you to all who serve.
This event is-being co-hosted by the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois along with 37 other legal organizations and associations. WBAI is proud to be a Gold Sponsor of this event!
