The Women’s Bar Association of Illinois proudly congratulates the Honorable Bridget C. Duignan on her installation as the 149th President of the Illinois State Bar Association. The ceremony took place on June 3, 2025, in the historic Illinois Supreme Court building in Chicago—a fitting setting for a leader who has dedicated her career to the pursuit of justice and service to the legal profession.
Judge Duignan currently serves as a Circuit Judge in the 19th Subcircuit of Cook County. She was appointed to the bench by the Illinois Supreme Court on June 11, 2024, and was subsequently elected to the position on November 5, 2024. Her installation as ISBA President marks a significant milestone in a distinguished career spanning both advocacy and the judiciary.
Before taking the bench, Judge Duignan was managing partner at Latherow & Duignan, where she built a strong reputation advocating for clients in cases involving medical negligence, construction negligence, sexual abuse, and wrongful death. Her extensive litigation experience and steadfast commitment to victims’ rights have shaped her perspective on the bench and in leadership.
Judge Duignan holds a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and earned her J.D. from the John Marshall Law School, now known as the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law.
As a longtime supporter of women in the legal profession and a dedicated public servant, Judge Duignan’s presidency promises to strengthen the ISBA’s mission and broaden its impact across the state. The WBAI celebrates this well-earned honor and looks forward to the continued leadership and vision she brings to our profession.
Congratulations, President Duignan!
