Longevity. Dedication. Mentorship. These qualities were repeatedly highlighted to define Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans and his tenure as the longest-serving Chief Judge of the Cook County Circuit Court. Since his election in 2001, Chief Judge Evans held steady oversight and leadership over one of the largest and busiest court systems in the nation.
His sustained commitment to efficient court administration is a remarkable accomplishment on its own, but even more impressive was the impact he had on bar associations and their success. Ever present at events and consistently encouraging membership, Chief Judge Evans was a steadfast advocate for bar associations. He appreciated each view and recognized the vital role each association presented in supporting justice and protecting the rule of law. Notably, he listened and collaborated during his decision making on the court system.
On November 20, 2025, the Chicago Bar Association and the Coalition of Chicagoland Bar Associations gathered to honor Chief Judge Evans’ everlasting legacy. Current bar association presidents recounted their own unique experiences and personal reflections. On behalf of the WBAI, President Katie Twardak championed Chief Judge Evans for his unwavering support for women in the judiciary most significantly reflected in his appointments of female judges in key leadership positions with the court system including presiding judges, and his promotion of equal opportunities for women in underrepresented groups. In recognition of his tireless work, Chief Judge Evans was awarded the 2010 Women Everywhere Outstanding Partner Award for his exceptional support of women and children navigating the Cook County court system. Through his lasting impact, Chief Judge Evans helped shape our legal community, and WBAI proudly honors his service and leadership.

Looking ahead, WBAI is ready to support the Honorable Charles Beach who is committed to maintaining a collaborative effort with bar associations. Chief Judge Beach will be honored at this year’s Judicial Reception. We hope you can join us as we celebrate excellence in the judiciary.
