A Salute to Veterans in the Legal Profession

By: Tracey L. Schroeder

The WBAI was proud to sponsor Decalogue’s Second Annual, “A Salute to Veterans in the Legal Profession,” which took place at Soldier Field on June 3rd. More than 41 affinity bar associations served as co-hosts of this very special event, taking place the week of the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

The purpose of the event was to recognize and honor the service and sacrifice of Veterans in all branches of the U.S. Military who, in addition to their service to this country, have also dedicated their careers to the legal profession as judges, lawyers, paralegals, law students, and legal administrative staff.

This year’s event built on the success of the inaugural event last year, which took place at Theater on the Lake, and included 350 attendees and more than 100 judges. The event program included lawyers and judges who have served or currently serve in each branch of the military, as well as Color Guard, Pipes & Drums and Rifle Team presentations. Event Challenge Coins were presented to all service members, who were encouraged to attend in their military dress. John Vincent, who sings the National Anthem for the Cubs, sang at the event!
