On January 16, the Diversity Scholarship Foundation hosted its 18th annual Unity Award Gala at the JW Marriott Chicago, a premier fundraising event that celebrates individuals making a significant impact in the legal community and beyond, with a focus on embracing diversity and its core ideals.
A heartfelt congratulations to WBAI President Sarah F. King, who was honored with the 2025 Advocate for Diversity Award. This prestigious recognition highlights her steadfast dedication to advancing diversity and inclusion within the legal profession.
The evening’s highlight was the presentation of scholarships to talented and deserving law students from across Illinois. In 2019, the Foundation awarded 14 individual scholarships, continuing its mission to support the next generation of legal professionals. Additionally, over 50 bar associations were represented during the annual Oath of Diversity and the Swearing-In of Bar Presidents, led by Circuit Court of Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans.
