On October 20, 2016, WBAI members and supporters filled the Hotel Allegro Ballroom to celebrate the Top Women Lawyers in Leadership. The extraordinary recipients were: Ms. Kathy Byrne, Trial Attorney at Cooney & Conway; Ms. Chasity Boyce, Diversity Inclusion Manager at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP; Ms. Katherine Minarik, Partner at Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott LLP; Ms. Meredith Ritchie, Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer of Alliant Credit Union; and Ms. Geri Pinzur Rosenberg, Chief Attorney, Tort Litigation, Chicago Transit Authority.
The Top Women Lawyers in Leadership Award emphasizes the accomplishment and diverse backgrounds of women lawyers who are making professional contributions through their service in a leadership role. The recipients’ families, dear friends, and mentors were present to share in the honor. WBAI members and supporters offered an evening of warmth, congeniality, and recognition of true importance of women leaders in the profession.
The highlight of the event was an awards video, produced by Jensen Litigation Solutions, where the honorees offered their advice and knowledge on such topics as the changing landscape for women in the profession; whether leaders are born or made; the importance of helping others on their way up; and personal words of wisdom.
