Helen Bloch

Helen Bloch wears hats of many colors – figuratively and literally.  Outside of a synagogue service to which she wears one of her many bright head coverings, a few of her other “hats” include: business owner, mom, arbitrator, and lecturer.  In 2007 Helen founded the Law Offices of Helen Bloch, P.C., a general practice firm that is an Illinois Certified Female Business Enterprise.  As a general practice, her firm helps companies, Fortune 500 executives, and others in a variety of matters, with a special emphasis on the employment and business arena, workers’ compensation, and defense of Chicago municipal code violations.  In the employment and business context, Helen represents clients on all sides of the employment relationship – individual employees, managers, or employers.  Routinely Helen negotiates and counsels clients on employment agreements, including non-competition, confidentiality, and severance agreements.  She advises on business start-up, drafts employment handbooks, various policies and procedures, and provides sexual harassment training.  As a faculty lecturer for West Legal’s Financial Poise, Helen is a speaker in a 7-part series, “Protecting Your Employee Assets: The Life Cycle of the Employment Relationship.”  From time to time, Helen serves as a FINRA arbitrator.  Since 2019, she has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers in employment law.  She is a Past President of the Decalogue Society of Lawyers, which awarded her its Presidential Citation in 2015 and the Intra Society Award of Merit in 2001.  She serves on the Alliance of Bar Associations, where she assists in screening judicial candidates.  Her other bar association memberships include the Illinois chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Black Women Lawyers Association.  An active National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) member, Helen leads NAWBO’s Business Xchange Group.  Also, Helen belongs to several civic organizations.  A Chicagoan, Helen is married to a native of Israel whose parents are holocaust survivors.
