First Vice President: Deane Brown

Deane B. Brown joined the Chicago law firm of Beermann Swerdlove LLP in 2002 as a partner and practices in the areas of commercial litigation and professional responsibility. Deane has been practicing law for almost 20 years, and represents businesses and individuals in employment matters, including severance negotiations, employment discrimination issues, and non-competition, non-solicitation and trade secret disputes, as well as contract, partnership and shareholder disputes, business torts, and property and lease disputes. In the area of professional responsibility, Deane regularly represents attorneys before the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission and has been retained by attorneys and companies to prepare opinion letters on various ethics issues. She recently served as the Chair of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Professional Conduct Committee.

Deane was named to the list of Top 50 Women Lawyers in Illinois in the 2009 Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine published by Law and Politics in conjunction with Chicago Magazine.  Deane has been named repeatedly as an Illinois Super Lawyer in the area of business litigation, a designation received by only the top 5% of lawyers in Illinois. In addition, Deane is recognized by the Leading Lawyers Network as being among the top 100 Women Leading Lawyers in Illinois and was profiled in the Leading Lawyers Network Magazine-2009 Women’s Edition.  Deane has received an AV rating under the Martindale-Hubbell Lawyer Rating System, indicating that she has "reached the height of professional excellence" and "is recognized for the highest level of skill and integrity."

Deane currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, as the Second Vice President, and she is a Past President of the Professional Women’s Club of Chicago.  Deane also serves on the Illinois State Bar Association’s Legislative Committee as well as its Standing Committee on Professional Conduct.  In addition, Deane is a member of the Kohl Children’s Museum Board of Governors.

Deane is a graduate of Boston University School of Law, the University of Cambridge (England), and The Johns Hopkins University.  Deane resides in Highland Park, Illinois with her husband Steve, daughter Morgan, and Portuguese Water Dog, Tanner.
