Board of Directors: Belinda Scrimenti

Belinda J. Scrimenti is a partner with Pattishall, McAuliffe, Newbury, Hilliard & Geraldson LLP, which practices trademark, copyright, Internet, advertising and branding law. Belinda's practice focuses on protecting her clients' intellectual property rights throughout a brand's life stages--from counseling and clearance, to registration, enforcement and litigation. She has nearly 30 years of experience litigating trademark, copyright and other trade identity disputes. Belinda also has an active practice in trademark counseling, domestic and international trademark prosecution and clearance, and domain name enforcement.

Belinda's national intellectual property litigation experience has encompassed cases in more than 40 federal court districts and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She has litigated over 100 cases in federal courts involving trademark, trade dress, unfair competition, copyright, counterfeiting, false advertising, and related trade identity claims. She has also litigated numerous ex parte motions for seizure and impoundment orders, and motions for temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions.

She has acted as lead counsel in suits for diverse clients, including the largest national casual dining restaurant chain and a large hotel chain, over signature trademarks. She has also litigated cases for clients in the fields of merchandised character and sports properties, toys and giftware, personal care products, cosmetics, apparel, luxury goods, computer technology, vehicle parts, and publishing, as well as real estate development, construction, security, trade association, and managed health care services.

Belinda is active in the International Trademark Association (INTA) and International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC), for which she has served on numerous project teams, including as a Project Team Group Leader for the INTA 2007 Annual Meeting Committee, held in Chicago. She has also served as a Co-Chair of the IACC Biannual Meeting. She is an active member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), the ABA's Section of Intellectual Property, Intellectual Property Owners (IPO), and the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago (IPLAC).

Belinda has written and spoken on intellectual property topics at numerous seminars and events, including for INTA, IACC, IQPC/Legal IQ, AIPLA, CBA, and Pattishall educational presentations. She is also the author of a chapter of Trademark Infringement Remedies (ABA/BNA 2006 and Supps.).

Belinda is a graduate of Ohio University (B.S. journalism, 1978, summa cum laude) and The Ohio State University College of Law (J.D., 1981, with honors, Note and Comment Editor Ohio State Law Journal). She began her career in Ohio with Baker & Hostetler LLP and moved in 1988 to its Washington, D.C. Office. She joined Pattishall in Washington D.C. in 2001, and moved in 2006 to the firm's Chicago office. She was first admitted to practice in Ohio in 1981, and was later admitted to practice in Illinois, Virginia and the District of Columbia. She is a member of numerous Federal Circuit and District Court Bars. She is a member of the ABA, and the Illinois State, Chicago, District of Columbia, Ohio and Virginia State Bar Associations. She also remains a member of the Women's Bar Association of Washington, D.C., with which she was active while practicing in Washington.

Belinda has been active in the WBAI since arriving in Chicago, and is a newly-elected Director. She has served on several committees and as Co-Chair of the Corporate Committee. In 2010-2011 she is serving as a Co-Chair of the Joint Professional Dinner and as Co-Chair of the Corporate and Programs/CLE Committees.
